CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER/ MANAGING DIRECTOR
South Nyanza Sugar Company Limited (SonySugar) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. SonySugar’s primary mandate is to increase national sugar production and reduce dependence on sugar imports, create
employment opportunities and enhance regional and national development in line with national development goals articulated in
the vision 2030.
The Board of Directors wishes to recruit a suitably qualified person to fill the position of Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director.
We are looking for a person to lead the organization in order to realize SonySugar’s vision “To be the leading world class manufacturer of preferred sugar and associated products for the delight of customers”. The Successful Person shall serve on Contract Terms for
a period of three (3) years renewable once subject to performance. The Chief Executive Officer will report to the Board of Directors.
The Chief Executive Officer’s Role will be:
• Ensure the business operating results meet shareholders targets and expectations
• Lead implementation and review of Corporate Policies and strategies in line with Corporate Vision, Mission and Values.
• Develop and advice the Board of Directors on long-term strategies and business plan besides annual operating and capital
budgets and establishing internal monitoring and control systems and procedures to ensure realization of business goals
• Ensure continuous improvements on quality of services and products provided by the Company.
• Ensure prudent management of business risks and accountability for corporate resources.
• Inculcate a high performing operational culture and ensure SonySugar operates on sound management and good corporate governance principles and practices.
• Oversee development and retention of adequate and motivated human resource in line with best practices for the business
and overall corporate growth.
• Ensure effective communication between management and Board as well as between different levels of management
Qualifications and experience required for this position are:
• A Bachelor degree in Engineering, Agricultural related field, Business Administration, Social Science, or Economics from
recognized university
• A Master’s degree in any of the following fields, Engineering, Agriculture, Marketing and Business Administration, economics or any relevant field from recognized university.
• Possession of a minimum of Fifteen (15) years’ relevant experience, Ten (10) of which must be at a senior management
level in a reputable organization.
• Membership of a professional body (where applicable).
• Proficiency in ICT and working knowledge of an ERP system.
• Experience working in an ISO Certified environment.
• Knowledge of Kenyan Labor Laws and Corporate Governance will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Performance Based Management
• Should meet requirements of Chapter six of the Kenya Constitution of 2010 (The Clearance documents are not mandatory
at the point of application but will be required at the appropriate point in the recruitment process).
