Temporary Technical Opportunities Available During Comprehensive Factory Maintenance This November Costing 300 Million
Milling will be suspended at South Nyanza Sugar Company 2025 Limited from Monday 17th November, 2025, for a comprehensive Annual Planned Maintenance (APM), intended to last for six weeks.
While announcing the intended stoppage, Managing Director Jane Pamela Odhiambo, revealed that the company has assembled enough spares and other necessary supplies sourced both locally and overseas. She said that the exercise will be conducted at a cumulative cost of Ks 300 million.
“This exercise is long overdue, considering that we have not adequately refurbished the factory over the last 34 months save for the mini maintenance in December 2024.” She said. In a communication to the stakeholders dated 10th November 2025, the Managing Director noted that the comprehensive exercise will cover all critical areas of the factory including cane preparation and milling, bagasse conveyors, boiler fans and flue system, steam turbine, process pumps, pipes and fittings, general repair of factory building and cane yard floor. She added that the refurbishment will also cover retrofitting of the mechanical calculators on the C Massecuite vacuum pans to enhance sugar boiling process. These interventions, she noted, will significantly improve the factory performance to meet targets and operate profitably.
Meanwhile, to acquire adequate labour for the maintenance, the company has advertised a few temporary opportunities to attract requisite technical skills. Fitters, welders, fabricators, pipe fitters, hoisters, machinists, electricians, instrument technicians, motor rewinders, masons, carpenters, plumbers, tinsmiths/lagers, and painters, can forward their applications to the Head of Human Resource using the address on this website. The deadline for applications is November 25, 2025.
